What we do in Scouting

Every year we help over 450,000 young people in the UK enjoy new adventures; to experience the outdoors; interact with others, gain confidence and have the opportunity to reach their full potential. Working alongside our youth members are thousands of adult volunteers, with a huge variety of roles and opportunities available. Find out more now !

West Yorkshire Scouts – Skills for Life Plan 2025

West Yorkshire Scouts are committed to delivering fun, challenging and adventurous activities to all its members.  We help over 8000 young people and some 2400 volunteers, from communities right across West Yorkshire, to develop their skills for life.

We have 14 districts and our county extends from Ilkey in the north to Huddersfield in the south and Halifax in West to Dewsbury in the East. The inspirational, talented and enthusiastic volunteers from across the County deliver West Yorkshire’s Skills For Life Plan 2025,which aims to support even more young people from across all communities, gain valuable skills for life.

To support delivery of our Skills for life plan, we have over 10 activity centres and campsites dotted all over the county and some a bit further afield.  Our adults are supported through our adult training, and our young leaders through a dedicated young leader programme.
