On Saturday 22nd March the West Yorkshire Project Peru contingent took to the hills above Holme as part of training for their exciting South American adventure which is planned for summer of 2026.
The 44 strong unit headed out from Digley Reservoir in smaller groups of 6-8 taking on two routes to the summit of Black Hill both a whopping 14+ km!
With support from the county activities team the young people worked on navigation and hiking skills, thinking about ways to manage altitude while in Country, as well as getting to know each other again since their last camp back in January
After summiting around midday the groups practiced walking on a bearing to find the remains of the 1940 plane crash, before heading back down in to Holme and back to the pick up point.
A great day out enjoyed by all and the contingent is looking forward to their next training adventure in July this year.
