Lightcliffe Scout Group and Blackhills Campsite- A Night of Fun and Fireworks: Scouts Bonfire Night Brings Community Together
This Bonfire Night, some of our Scout group/campsite came together to host an unforgettable event, filled with laughter, food, and spectacular fireworks that brightened the night sky. With the entire team pitching in, the event was a shining example of the dedication and community spirit that Scouting is all about.
Scout, Hollie shared her experience: “I helped set things up on the day, including building the bonfire with my dad. In the evening, I sold drinks and snacks at the bonfire and helped the Cubs who were selling fizzy pop too. Everybody at the bonfire was really positive and friendly. The fireworks were really good, colourful and bright, and I enjoyed watching them with my friends.”
Hollie also emphasized the positive impact of the event on both the group and the wider community. “I think it was good for the community because there aren’t many good bonfires nearby. It’s good for the group as it brings in lots of money so that all of us can go on camps and stuff. I think it’s great too as lots of families come and they can see what we do at Scouts and see maybe if they want to join.”
For the leaders and team members, the night was equally rewarding. “Wow, what an incredible team effort!” shared one team member. “I am blown away by everyone’s collaboration and dedication. It was fantastic meeting and getting to know each of you better. We truly had an unforgettable evening filled with joy. Thank you all again for making it so special.” Another leader said they had ‘ a great evening at our bonfire event bringing all the scouts together’ which was a sell out!
This Bonfire Night showed how events like these are essential in strengthening bonds within our community, allowing families to see what Scouting is all about and inviting them to join in the adventure. With everyone’s effort, we not only created memories but also raised funds that will go directly towards future camps and activities, giving all Scouts the opportunity to grow, explore, and have fun together.
